Train night market review – Not just your normal Thai market. Fabulous mix of traditional, antiques, bars, live music and it is clean and trendy with a great atmosphere. We went there last night with our teenage son and we all loved it. The antiques section in the sheds was amazing. With a mix of “for sale” and a few just for display. Loads of eating places and bars, most of the larger bars with live music. The market is clean and has a modern feel to it. Now wall to wall tourists like Chatuchuck. The train market is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, 1800 till late. There are plenty toilets costing a few baht per visit.
It is well away from the centre of town. Hire a good taxi and allow 40 mins for travel from centre of Bangkok.
This market is the best value market in Bangkok and does not appear to be rammed with fake goods.
This market is a “must” if you like retro.
The antiques and retro can be found in the large sheds. Walk in from the car park, straight ahead for a couple of hundred yards and you will see the sheds to the right. There are also thousands of normal gifts, clothing, electrical, watches, fancy goods etc, etc stalls.
